RWU SCS Paramedic Program is currently operating under a Letter of Review(LOR) from CoAEMSP/CAAHEP.
A Letter of Review is NOT a CAAHEP accreditation status, it is a status granted by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP) signifying that a program seeking initial accreditation has demonstrated sufficient compliance with the accreditation standards through the Letter of Review Self Study Report (LSSR) and other documentation.
Letter of Review is recognized by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) for eligibility to take the NREMT’s Paramedic credentialing examination(s).
PARAMEDIC PROGRAM GOALS
To prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains.

- information and related topics, relevant to the practice of pre-hospital emergency medical care.
- Psychomotor Objective:
- Upon successful completion of the program, the student will demonstrate an ability to competently and
- proficiently perform all paramedic level skills.
- Upon successful completion of this program, the student will demonstrate attitudes and behaviors consistent with the ethics and professionalism expected of paramedics.
- To develop a program that meets the needs of a diverse demographic of populations.
- To provide students with knowledge, skills, and abilities required in the field of paramedic technology.
- To develop students that are workforce ready and have the ability to succeed on National Registry exams as well as in the workplace.
- To employ excellent qualified faculty with the credentials and experience to lead the instructional program and focus on student success.
- To provide a quality educational program that meets the needs of area employers and promotes the quality of health care.
- To seek input, advisement, and instruction from clinical experts to ensure relevance and appropriateness of curriculum and method of instruction.
- To seek input from employers to determine if graduates are properly prepared to function as “entry” level paramedics, and possible changes/improvement to curriculum to meet that goal.
- To maintain public safety by administering a quality, accreditation program that provides graduates that are prepared to care for the public needs.
Students must be accepted into the program prior to registration and must attend an orientation.
RWU does not accept advanced placement for its Paramedic program.
At the beginning of each course, the student will be given a syllabus listing the specific requirements for the course. All requirements must be met to complete the course. Grading will be based on the degree of achievement.
In addition to specific course objectives, students must meet core performance standards and demonstrate professional conduct in accordance with program regulations at all times while enrolled in the Paramedic program. If at any time the faculty’s evaluation of a student’s ability to meet core performance standards on professionalism is identified as below average, the student will be removed from the Paramedic program, regardless of academic performance.
Students who have interrupted their enrollment at any point in the Paramedic program and wish to return will be given one attempt to successfully pass a comprehensive exam to verify that they have retained the information that was covered in previous courses.
- Minimum 2 years as a practicing licensed emergency medical technician
- Pass the FISDAP Paramedic – Basic Entrance Exam (70%)
- Pass an entry level psychomotor exam
- Letter of reference from a peer
- Letter of reference from an employer
