The Center for Workforce and Professional Development at Roger Williams University is pleased to present a team building and diversity in the workplace training series. These courses may be taken individually or as a comprehensive series leading to a certificate of completion from RWU.

Demystifying Excel

Excel has unlimited capabilities for making your job easier and less stressful. But learning the countless features available to you can be a daunting task. This workshop will teach you some of the most common advanced features and functions Excel offers — taking your level of proficiency from basic to advanced. After this training you’ll be amazed at how this powerful program can work for you. Some of the things to be covered include:

Shortcuts for doing things, like auto filling data, quickly adjusting the size of columns and rows, quickly accessing files, etc.

How You Will Benefit:

  • Conditional Formatting
  • Protecting data
  • Using Pivot Tables
  • Creating Charts with Goal Lines
  • Bringing in external data sources
  • Removing duplicate records
  • Using forms
  • Using date functions and text functions
  • Using lookup functions to populate a spreadsheet

There are four generations are represented in our workforce today: Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Generation X-ers & Millennials. Understanding and appreciating the different values and paradigms of each generation can reduce the stress in your workplace AND allow you to achieve peak performance.

How You Will Benefit:

  • Identify major characteristics of the four generations in today’s workplace
  • The Why’s behind each generation’s paradigm and how these paradigms drive behaviors
  • Understand the impact of generational differences in the workplace
  • Differentiate the various working style of these defined generational groups
  • Learn adaptive working strategies
