Louis A. Cerbo, Ph.D.

My Story

Dr. Louis A. Cerbo is the Clinical Director/Psychologist for the Rhode Island Department of Corrections.  Dr. Cerbo’s career in corrections began in 2000 at the Donald W. Wyatt Federal Prison and, in 2001 at the Bristol County House of Corrections as a forensic psychologist.  In October, 2011 he accepted the Clinical Director/Psychologist position with the RIDOC.  In this capacity, he is responsible for the mental health, substance abuse and psychiatric treatment at the Rhode Island Department of Corrections.  He was formerly the Hospital Administrator of Eleanor Slater Hospital Adult Psychiatric Service (formerly the IMH).

Dr. Cerbo received Master of Arts in Psychology degree from Rhode Island College, a Master of Education in Counseling degree from Boston University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling/Clinical Psychology degree from Boston University. He completed post-doctoral training at Bridgewater State Hospital in Forensic Psychology and well as Worcester State Hospital and University of Massachusetts Medical Center.
